Cilantro (Coriandrum sativum)

Native to Southern Europe, Southwestern Asia, and Northern Africa, Cilantro is in the same family as carrots, parsley and dill: Umbelliferae.

Both the fresh leaves and dried seeds (coriander) are used in cooking.

• Cilantro is best used fresh.
